India's Renewable Energy Capacity Reached 136.6 GW by 2023

According to it:

  • By December 2023, India achieved 136.6 GW of renewable energy capacity, with goals to reach 170 GW by March 2025 and 450 GW by 2030, with over 60% expected from solar energy. Despite a slight dip in early 2024, India's renewable energy commitment remains strong.
  • India's renewable energy capacity surpassed targets, projecting 280 GW by 2025, exceeding the initial goal of 175 GW by 2022. Renewable energy made up 37% of India's total energy supply in 2023.
  • Northern India is set to become a renewable energy hub, with a potential capacity of 363 GW, supported by robust renewable energy policies.
