Here is an article from Energy Monitor. According to them,
-
Companies totaling a market capitalization of $38 trillion had committed to science-based climate targets through the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) by the end of 2021
-
The SBTi launched the Net-Zero Standard in 2021, providing a framework for setting corporate net-zero targets aligned with climate science.
-
Over 20% of high-emitting companies globally are now part of the SBTi, with strong uptake across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Oceania with Europe leading around 55% of these commitments
Here are some commitments made my some of the largest companies of the world that are worth noting:
- €1 billion - Allocated by Unilever in 2020 to establish a Climate & Nature Fund, meant for taking significant steps in addressing climate change
- €200 million - Invested by IKEA in their mission to be a climate positive company, as their their newsroom
- $2 billion - Amazon's Climate Pledge Fund to support the development of sustainable technologies and services
