First Ever Solar-Driven Green Hydrogen Facility in MENA Region
Here's a report released by Siemens Energy. According to it:
- Siemens Energy, in collaboration with Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) and Expo 2020 Dubai, inaugurated the first industrial-scale, solar-driven green hydrogen facility in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
- This facility, powered by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, produces around 20.5kg/hr of hydrogen at 1.25MWe peak power.
- The integrated facility includes electrolysis, storage, and re-electrification capabilities. This setup allows for buffering renewable energy production for fast response applications and long-term storage, accommodating future applications and test platforms for mobility and industrial uses.
Here are some developments in the green hydrogen industry from recent years:
- India’s ACME Group secured Rs 4,000 crore ($488.9m) of debt facility for its Oman green hydrogen and ammonia project. Its first phase will be able to produce 100,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia, with a further expansion increasing this to 1.2 million, as reported by Power Technology
- FFI and the Egyptian government signed a Memorandum of Understanding to develop a massive 9.2 GW green hydrogen production facility in Egypt, as reported by PV Magazine
