Financial Controller
Description
Roles & Responsibilities:
1. Budgeting & Planning
- Lead the budget and forecasting process. Work with the leadership team in strategic planning and decision-making to design and implement finance systems and processes that align with the organization's overall vision.
- Assist the CFO in finalizing the annual budget based on the information provided by the respective Business and Functional Leads
2. Treasury & Banking
- Overseeing the smooth execution of all financial covenants including treasury activities and building relationships with Bankers & other statutory bodies.
- Maintain appropriate arrangements for eective cash management, making payments, collecting receipts, securing banking arrangements, and monitoring income to ensure optimum value to the company.
- Negotiate and control all financial contracts to ensure that services provide an optimum value to the company.
3. Investor & Analyst Relations
Work with the leadership team to maintain Investor relations
4. Accounting
- Review and improve accounting standards and practices within the company.
- Maintain control of accounting systems to ensure the complete and accurate processing of financial data in accordance with standards of accounting. Ensure timely closing of books of accounts & monitor the maintenance of fixed assets registers.
- Produce regular and accurate analyses of income and expenditure amounts to assist Business and Functional Leads in the budget monitoring process.
- Develop and monitor all necessary controls to ensure that the company complies with statutory requirements, in all the countries, in alignment with local country and state laws.
5. Taxation & Compliance
- Maintain control over tax balances and accounting to ensure correct & accurate accounting and timely recording of tax transactions.
- Oversee Direct Taxes & GST / Indirect taxes compliance and coordinate with consultants wherever necessary.
6. MIS and Controls
- Set up measures to improve efficiency, and cost management to improve the overall profitability of business.
- Develop and maintain all necessary financial and information systems and procedures to ensure the eective and efficient attainment of the company's objectives.
- Dene and monitor appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs), dashboard summaries, ROI assessments, trend analysis, and other required financial and business analyses.
- Ensure that all necessary statements and reports are generated to enable the accurate measurement of cash ow, profit and loss, debtors, etc.
- Review budget versus actual on a quarterly basis and provide insights into the CEO, Board, and Leadership team.
- Review outstanding collections and bank statements, initiate, and follow through on remedial actions.
- Be aware of all developments in financial management that might affect how the company's finances or its statutory obligations are being managed, highlight changes to the Management and initiate changes where required.
7. Auditing
- Control and implement a program of internal audits to ensure that company operations are carried out efficiently and with integrity.
- Maintain a close working relationship with the external auditors to ensure compliance and cooperation with their requirements and to provide an eective audit trail.
8. Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. Ensure comprehensive performance appraisal and development opportunities are provided in accordance with the company's talent strategy and employment policies.
- Provide the required training to enhance the skills of team members.
Background Needed
- CA qualification with at least 5 years of experience as Head of the Finance Function or Finance Controller or similar designation and reporting to the top management of the company.
- Track record of achievement and growth within the organizations worked in, from the perspective of 'value-addition’ and the ability to contribute to strategy and business growth.
- Experience working in an organization of a minimum size of 50 cores plus and managing a team of 10 plus members under them.
- Proven track record of setting up financial processes, being data-driven, and “outcome-led” work ethic.
- Business orientation that is not limited only to financial aspects – the ability to develop a business model with in-depth business understanding and detailing with a sense of business rigor.
- Experience working in the HVAC or Energy industry.
- Experience working and scaling startups in the 1-100 journey.
Skills Required
- Strong business analysis, performance monitoring, compliance management, and financial reporting skills.
- Ability to actively communicate, inspire, and motivate all levels of staff.
- Good command over Tally, Excel and MS Word and PowerPoint
- Strong ownership and self-motivating skills; ability to think and act strategically and proactively, like an entrepreneur.
