India Setting Up Ultra-mega solar parks
India has been going big on solar last few years and is now reportedly setting up mega solar parks.
Now, what exactly is a solar park? Is it just a place where solar panels are “parked”?
Solar parks are more than that.
Solar parks typically refer to a large scale infrastructure set up by a public or private organization in order to facilitate many solar power plant investors to just “plug-in” their solar panels and start generating electricity.
In addition to solar panels and the associated electrical & electronics, a typical ground mounted solar power plant will need to have a land well suited for the power plant as well as associated infrastructure such as well prepared ground/soil, necessary security arrangements etc. It also needs to be ensured that the land is located such that the nearest electrical substation has the necessary capacity to take the electricity output from the solar power plant.
Ensuring all the above infrastructure can be quite arduous for individual solar power plant developers, especially if they are investing in small or medium scale solar power plants. Many such developers can install their power plants at a solar park.
