CliDemy - The Climate Academy - climate education & skilling

Experiential
6E @ CliDemy

This section of 8S framework provides input on Experiential Education.

Experiences have the power to change people. We all know that.

Similarly, education, done in an experiential way, has the potential to change people and make them undertake climate action.

At CliDemy, we are designing experiential education for a range of stakeholders (school children, home makers, seniors, government officials…) that have the following characteristics:

Sustained - experiences need to be done over a period of time, and with multiple exposures in order to result in
changes

Focused - experiences should be theme-based, and these themes in turn should be designed with special care for specific target audiences

Feedback review - experiences should be designed such that they can be modified & optimized with time, with the user of continuous user feedback

Localized - while digital experiences could be a part of the overall basket, physical experiences will have a far higher impact in the context of climate education. There is thus a significant need for many experiences to be localized (city or region specific) to ensure benefits to a large number of people.

Here are some examples of the experiential learning we are planning:

Organic food and farming hands-on workshops at schools - done over a few weeks.

Half and one-day tours of renewable & clean energy facilities - followed by feedback and networking sessions between participants.

Embedding college students for a few days or weeks to be a part of climate tech startups.

Embedding interested stakeholders for a few days in waste management operations in waste management companies.
